About the Program
Academic Depth in Dentofacial Orthopedics. The PhD program in Orthodontics at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (CHSSU) aims to cultivate “Doctors of Philosophy (PhD)” capable of producing universal knowledge in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Our program extends beyond simple tooth alignment, offering a profound academic perspective on bone biology, growth and development mechanisms, and the biomechanics of occlusion. By blending scientific rigor with clinical excellence, we prepare leading researchers who will provide innovative, evidence-based solutions to the complex challenges of the orthodontic world.
Educational Opportunities
Digital Orthodontics and Advanced Research Laboratories. Our doctoral education encompasses technical and theoretical courses such as Advanced Cephalometry, Biomechanical Principles, and Current Approaches in Clear Aligner Therapies, alongside a comprehensive clinical research process. The 3D intraoral scanners, Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), and digital planning software within CHSSU allow students to specialize in the field of “Digital Orthodontics.” Guided by our expert faculty, the thesis process enables candidates to make world-class discoveries in areas such as accelerated tooth movement, orthognathic surgery simulations, and next-generation bracket systems.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the CHSSU PhD in Orthodontics program command the highest level of respect in both academia and the professional healthcare sector under the title of “Doctor.” Our alumni can build distinguished academic careers as faculty members in schools of dentistry, training the next generation of orthodontists from academic chairs. In the clinical field, they are qualified to serve as clinical directors in comprehensive hospitals or specialized centers, leading multidisciplinary surgical teams. Furthermore, they can take on high-impact roles as R&D directors or chief consultants for global dental technology firms and clear aligner manufacturers, managing projects that define the future of orthodontic treatment technologies.
