About the Program
Academic Depth at the Intersection of Medicine and Dentistry. The PhD program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (CHSSU) aims to develop “Doctors of Philosophy (PhD)” capable of treating diseases, injuries, and deformities of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region at the most advanced level. Our program extends beyond classical techniques, offering a profound academic perspective on advanced implantology, maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, and maxillofacial pathology. By merging scientific rigor with clinical skill, we prepare research leaders who will define the surgical literature.
Educational Opportunities
Advanced Surgical Technologies and Research Focus. Our doctoral education encompasses technical courses such as Advanced Maxillofacial Surgery, Current Approaches in Dental Implantology, and Regenerative Medicine, alongside an intensive clinical and research process. CHSSU’s modern operating theaters and 3D Surgical Planning laboratories allow students to specialize in digital surgical workflows. Guided by our expert faculty, the thesis process enables candidates to conduct original scientific studies in areas such as bone grafting techniques, laser surgery, and facial reconstruction, aiming for high-impact global recognition.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the CHSSU PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program command the highest level of respect in both the academic and medical worlds under the title of “Doctor.” Our alumni can pursue distinguished academic careers as faculty members, leading scientific research and shaping the future of surgical education. In the clinical field, they are qualified to serve as clinical directors or chief surgeons in full-fledged hospitals or specialized centers, leading multidisciplinary trauma and reconstructive teams. Furthermore, they can take on strategic roles as R&D directors and consultants for biomedical technology firms, managing projects that define the next generation of surgical implants and devices.
